Program Summary Refugee Career Pathway Program is designed to support refugees in achieving self-sufficiency by providing information, guiding them, supporting and connecting them with training, skills development as well as creating career pathways opportunities aligned with their qualifications and experience. The program offers services such as career counseling, job readiness training, career mapping, credential evaluation, financial support, and connection with employers to help refugees transition into their chosen career field in the USA. Position Summary The Career Coach will provide training connections and career coaching to refugees statewide and assist and support them to gain employment and advance within their chosen field. The Career Coach will build on existing partnerships, employers, training providers, and educational institutions to build new and enhance existing on-ramps to career pathways. The participants served will be interested in training and employment opportunities. Essential Functions Assist with outreach and recruitment of participants Provide career mapping, planning, and coaching including basic skills development Provide support services and placement support to all participants Serve as initial point of contact for all potential participants, providing information about available services Verify and document participant eligibility in accordance with grant Determine eligibility, make final enrollment decision, and complete enrollment process Track and record participant activities and outcomes in data management system Conduct career mapping workshops and facilitate an ongoing career/employment plan with participants Coordinate and provide career coaching to participants throughout their enrollment Provide partner referrals and facilitate access to the navigator at Mt. Hood Community College or WorkSource centers Coordinate training and on the job training service delivery with local community colleges and WorkSource partners Coordinate access to job placement services Provide job retention services for a minimum of 90 days Maintain accurate participant case files, documentation, data entry and other relevant report inquiries Issue and document support services to assist clients with overcoming barriers to successfully complete trainings or fulfill career plans Monitor progress towards outcomes and generate quarterly progress reports using quantitative data and narrative summaries Secondary Functions Monitor and coordinate volunteer activities Provide coverage / surge support for team when needed, in case of absence or high volume of participation Participate in staff meetings, trainings, committees, and volunteer activities to support program goals Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned Education & Experience Minimum Job Specific Qualifications Associate's degree required Experience: 1-2 years of experience is required Experience in career coaching, employment services or workforce development, ideally working with immigrants or internationally trained professionals Strong understanding of local job market trends, hiring processes, and credential recognition pathways Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree preferred Ability to function in a positive manner in a demanding work environment, to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility, to respond to priorities and schedules that change frequently Ability to meet multiple, sometimes conflicting deadline Strong report writing, editing, research and data experience Strong analytical and decision-making abilities Ability to deal with distressed and/or demanding clients and employees in an effective manner Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make good judgments as it pertains to clients Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality Strong skills in multi-background, interpersonal, and organizational communication. Strong understanding of the experience of refugee populations, their needs and obstacles Ability to communicate in a positive manner verbally, in writing, and by phone Ability to communicate with a variety of personality types and levels of the organization as well as with persons outside of the organization Ability to listen for understanding and assist in problem solving Be punctual, good attendance, and be able to work flexible hours to meet the availability of clients Ability to use basic office equipment, telephone, copy machine, fax machine, and computer Knowledge of the local job market, placement counseling and concerns of employers Physical, Mental, & Environmental Requirements Communication: Regular communication inside and outside the organization to exchange ideas and gather information Creativity: Regular need for the development of new processes and procedures or the redesign of interrelated processes and procedures is needed Mental: There is an occasional need to assess risks as well as to make determinations about tasks and deadlines Physical: Positions at this level require minimal physical effort such as light lifting, carrying or movement, etc. Physical capability involves use of office or equipment where some agility and hand eye coordination is needed Impact and Influence: Positions at this level have some need or ability to analyze problem or concepts or make decisions on the information.
