Freight Broker Location Angleton, TX :

We are looking for a service-minded freight broker to act as a liaison between our customers and transportation carriers. The freight broker will secure new accounts, expedite the sharing of information and documentation between customers and carriers, and communicate with dispatchers and drivers to book, dispatch and track the status of loads from the time it picks up at the Shipper to the time it delivers at the Receiver. You will negotiate rates with carriers in a manner that optimizes profits.

To ensure success in this position you need to obtain knowledge of the different transportation services we provide, load securement, equipment type needed per commodity, and different policies and procedures per customer.

Freight Broker Responsibilities:

• Identifying and selecting reputable and safe carriers for our customer's freight needs.
• Booking orders with carriers.
• Going over load details with carriers prior to booking: securement requirements, safety requirements and load details.
• Tracking status of truck: check calls at pick up location, in transit, delivery location.
• Providing customers with shipping quotes.
• Collaborating with shippers, carriers and dispatchers to manage scheduled pick-ups and drop-offs times and locations.
• Updating account managers and customers on the status of shipments and assisting with other inquiries.
• Maintaining current knowledge of market trends in the transportation marketplace.
• Generating leads and attracting new prospects, in developing a sales pipeline.

Freight Broker Requirements:

• High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.
• 1-2 years of work experience in a similar role preferred.
• Established book of business preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to identify KPIs and meet assigned performance goals.

Job Type: Full Time

Pay: Base salary plus commission structure

Schedule: 8 hour shift from 8am-5pm Monday through Friday depending on workload
