About the Role
The Company is in search of a Volunteer Board Member to join its Governance Committee. This pivotal role involves collaborating with fellow board members and executive leadership to establish and uphold the organization's strategic goals, policies, and practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for the regular review and updating of bylaws, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards, as well as providing oversight on matters related to board structure, composition, and effectiveness. Additionally, the role includes the essential tasks of conducting assessments of board performance, contributing to the recruitment and development of new board members, and serving as a liaison between the Board of Directors and other organizational committees. The ideal candidate for this position with The Company will have a proven track record in nonprofit governance, with a preference for experience in mindfulness, wellness, or related fields. A deep understanding of governance principles, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to the mission of promoting mindfulness and holistic well-being are essential. The role also requires the candidate to have connections within the local community and expertise in legal, risk management, financial, or human resources is a plus.
