Key responsibilities

• Inventory management: Maintaining appropriate stock levels, ordering parts as needed, receiving and checking in parts, organizing inventory for maximum efficiency.
• Customer service: Helping customers identify parts, providing information about compatibility, condition, and pricing, and resolving customer complaints.
• Team leadership: Managing, coaching, and training employees within the parts department.
• Sales and profitability: Driving sales, meeting financial goals, tracking expenses, and ensuring efficient use of resources.
• Compliance: Ensuring compliance with company policies, safety requirements, and federal, state, and local regulations.

Essential skills and qualifications

• Knowledge of auto parts: Understanding of various vehicle makes, models, and parts is crucial.
• Customer service skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues.
• Sales skills: Ability to effectively communicate, negotiate, and close sales.
• Leadership and management skills: To manage a team, handle inventory, and oversee operations.
• Organizational and problem-solving skills: For managing inventory, resolving issues, and meeting deadlines.
• Technical skills: Familiarity with inventory management systems, point-of-sale (POS) software, and online catalog systems is often required.
• Physical stamina: Ability to lift and carry parts, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
• Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required, with additional education or trade school courses being beneficial.
• Experience: Previous experience in the automotive after-market service industry, sales, or customer service is preferred. Management experience is also desirable.
