Senior, Director of Engineering

We are looking for an accomplished Software Engineering leader based in Boston to oversee multiple key engineering teams in the UK and the US.  The products and features these teams deliver will help us simplify and accelerate our customer’s movement of health care to the home. The work we are doing is transforming how we care for people's health. We are seeking people with a passion for delivering quality software in a fast paced and dynamic environment. 

Experience delivering high-quality products in the medical device or software area is important.  The right candidate for this role will be comfortable discussing designs with individual engineers, working with Product Management and other parts of the business to develop roadmaps, talking with customers, and interacting with executives within Best Buy Health and Best Buy.  Outstanding communication skills are essential. We are a complex organization, often managing ambiguity and changing priorities. The right person for this role will operate at the highest level in an ever-changing landscape. Most of all, we are looking for a highly technical leader who can bring a sense of urgency with a focus on high quality and compliance, to help us deliver on our mission of enabling health at home for everyone. 


What you’ll do

• Be an inspirational customer and patient focused leader for the engineering organization
• Lead, expand and develop engineering teams in the US and the UK working on Care Orchestration, a new SaaS product for Best Buy Health, and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) integrations.
• Engage seamlessly with Product Management to create roadmaps and deliver functionality that meets our customers’ and the market’s needs
• Partner with Product and Sales leaders on customer engagements, including co-design projects, to address technical questions and lead architecture conversations
• Ensure designs and architecture changes are moving the product in direction with our strategy
• Actively drive and support Regulatory engagement
• Drive a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and agile development

Basic qualifications

• 10+ years engineering experience in software development
• 4+ years experience leading multiple engineering teams withing a global engineering organization with accountability for multiple product lines
• Outstanding communication skills with ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and executives
• You will have excellent critical thinking skills and be able to provide effective counsel to the senior leadership team. 
• You’ll be able to solve complex challenges across people, SaaS products and technology. Comfort with ambiguity within a fast-moving environment is essential.
• You’re passionate about recruiting, nurturing and developing great engineering talent – you have experience at building teams at scale ideally in multiple locations or fully remote environment.

Preferred qualifications

• 5+ years experience of driving technical excellence across engineering in both enterprise and early-stage product-based companies.
• 5+ years experience managing stakeholder relationships in a matrixed organization
• 3+ years experience delivering high-quality products in the medical device or software area
• 3+ years experience working in a highly regulated medical industry
• 3+ years experience partnering with Product departments within an agile environment
• Have up to date knowledge of the latest products, and trends within AWS, MS Dynamics & Epic.
