Within our Analytical Services team, we have a functional service provider solution, which is a unique partnership that allows our customers to leverage the experience of our staff, while allowing you, the employee, to gain direct experience working onsite at a pharmaceutical/ biopharmaceutical company, all while maintaining full-time benefits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Primarily involve in the design of integrated automation platforms for analytical assay sample preparation for analytical assays (PCR, NGS, ELSA, or similar) and cell culture for primary cells (iPSC, HSC or similar).
  • Create automation scripts, test, validate new methods on integrated liquid handlers including Hamilton Vantage, TECAN and other equipment as well as provide troubleshooting of errors and escalation as required.
  • Assist analytical development teams with setting up, monitoring, and successfully completing daily automated runs and integrated systems.
  • Continuously maintain and monitor the health of automation systems and evaluate their efficiency and effectiveness. Assist with troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
  • Provide some routine analytical testing for cell-based, molecular and biochemical assays.
  • Communicate cross functionally across teams to ensure effective automation support.
  • Maintain excellent written documentation, assist with lab organization and compliance with lab safety protocols. This position is primarily lab-based.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in lab sciences such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science, Immunology, Biology, Molecular Biology or similar
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable 6+years')
  • OR Masters degree and previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable 4+ years')
  • OR PhD and previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable 2+ years')

In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong experience with understanding of integrated robotic liquid handers (TECAN, Hamilton or other) and their operating software (Fluent Gx, VENUS, or other) for scripting and testing automated assay method development and sample preparation.
  • Hands-on experience and technical proficiency with mammalian cell culture, aseptic technique, cell-based assay development, ELISA, HPLC, PCR ddPCR/qPCR, RT-qPCR, flow cytometry, SDS-Page and/or HPLC.
  • Strong experience in high throughput sample preparation, screening, and cell culture in biologics drug development settings.
  • Understanding of process development for cell and gene therapy products.
  • Team player, innovative, collaborative, and initiative.
