Your Job Summary
The Regional Nurse Consultant will be Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Services, the Quality Assurance Nurse is responsible for the planning,
implementation and evaluation of the facility's Quality Measurement and Performance Improvement program
affecting the quality of patient/resident care outcomes, appropriate utilization, employee performance and ethical
business conduct.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Current nursing licensure in the state he or she is responsible..
- Experienced or trained in nursing service, administration, rehabilitation, psychiatric or geriatric
nursing.
• Two or more years of demonstrated ability in nursing administration and/or supervision in a health
facility.
- A desire to work with geriatric and disabled persons.
- Ability to generate enthusiasm and cooperation from others.
- Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
- A genuine interest in and respect for people and a desire to be of service to them.
- Ability to accept and work with persons with different social and cultural traits.
- Demonstrates leadership ability and capability to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
- Experience as a DON is desirable.
- Knowledge of OBRA, New Mexico Regulations, Title 22, MDS/PPS, TAR as applicable.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
GENERAL
• Responsible for 24 hour's support of all Directors of Nursing Services in their respective regional
assignments.
• Periodically visits facilities to ensure maximum care is provided to all the residents and to ascertain
need for additional services by reviewing facilities' QI and QMPIs for trends.
• Confers regularly with the Regional Vice President regarding current status of nursing service and
submits written reports and/or action plans as requested..
- Maintains good interpersonal relationships with nursing personnel and allied professional services.
- Participates in professional organization activities, identifies and meets educational needs of staff
through meetings and in-service classes.
• Participates in the recruitment, selection, hiring, orientation, training and dismissal of nursing
personnel.
• Develops, maintains and upgrades nursing service objectives and standards for nursing practice and
nursing procedure manuals.
• Promotes a safe environment within the facility which includes fire and accident prevention,
maintenance of sanitary conditions and assurance that all nursing personnel understand their roles in
the event of a disaster or other disruption of services.
• Maintains contact with MDS Coordinator regarding accuracy of MDS and appropriate
documentation.
- Participates in the education and training of Director of Staff Development.
- Keeps the Regional Vice President and Director of Nursing Services informed of potential problems
or problem areas within the nursing department.
• Periodically checks residents' records, reviews transcriptions of physicians' orders to resident charts
with medication and treatment sheets to assure that they are accurate.
- Reviews resident charts for completeness.
- Oversees compliance and preparedness of each facility for state surveys, JCAHO, and other required
certification preparations.
