Refrigeration Technician at Hormel Foods summary:

The Refrigeration Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing industrial refrigeration systems using Freon and Ammonia while ensuring safety and compliance with company procedures. The role requires experience in plumbing, electrical work, boiler operation, and safe handling of hazardous materials. Hiring for all shifts, starting wage between $21.25 - $36.75 per hour, wage is based off experience with the opportunity to make more

Job Responsibilities

  1. In accordance with company policies and procedures, this position is responsible for maintaining the refrigeration systems
  2. This position will operate and repair industrial refrigeration systems (Freon, Ammonia)
  3. Maintain pertinent records on the ammonia equipment
  4. Practice safe handling of ammonia in its liquid and gas state
  5. Maintain and update Emergency Procedures

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in plumbing and electrical and demonstrate good communication skills
  • One-year experience in a boiler operation
  • Excellent history of safety
  • Ability to work effectively under minimal supervision
  • PHYSICAL: No restrictions prohibiting bending, twisting and lifting up to 50 pounds or more
  • Ability to wear a SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five years' experience in Industrial Refrigeration Operations
  • Freon Certified
  • Boiler school certified
  • Three years' experience on boiler operation
  • Technical School diploma in refrigeration
