Join to apply for the Physician (Palliative Care) role at VA Detroit Summary The James J. Peters VA Medical Center is seeking a Hospice and Palliative Care Physician to be an integral part of the H&PC Program. The position is housed in the Geriatric, Research, Education and Clinical Center (GRECC). The program includes inpatient consultation, outpatient clinic, and hospice beds (Supportive Care Unit) in the Community Living Center (CLC). Duties Answer inpatient palliative care consults, provide symptom management, emotional support, and discharge planning recommendations. Assist in outpatient palliative care, answer consults, co-manage patients, and facilitate home hospice referrals. Provide evidence-based care in the Supportive Care Unit and promote team involvement. Support outreach efforts with primary care and subspecialists to identify at-risk patients and establish goals of care. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and the CLC Admissions committee. Engage in educational activities and supervise trainees. Document care in accordance with facility policy. Provide on-call coverage on a rotational basis, including telephone and occasional weekend on-site coverage. Requirements U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible. Full, unrestricted medical license in any US State or territory. Completed residency training in an approved program leading to board eligibility. Proficiency in English. Preferred Qualifications Board eligibility in Palliative Medicine, geriatric experience preferred.
