This position is part of a progressive program for pharmacy interns that scales with each year of their curriculum. The first two years will be spent supporting the Department of Pharmacy’s operations. The third year will be spent obtaining admission medication histories alongside pharmacists and medication reconciliation technicians. The final year, the intern will serve as a “pharmacist extender” providing clinical and cognitive support services to pharmacists. Responsibilities include providing exemplary customer service, maintaining confidentiality, supporting medication preparation and distribution, compounding medications, managing controlled substance inventories, obtaining medication histories, providing medication teaching, preparing pharmacy-to-dose consults, reviewing pharmacotherapy, and supporting pharmacy operations. The role requires adherence to Boston Medical Center’s standards of conduct and behavioral standards. Education requires enrollment at an accredited school of pharmacy and a pharmacy intern license or eligibility in Massachusetts. Previous pharmacy experience is preferred but not required. Strong communication, attention to detail, interpersonal skills, and computer proficiency are necessary. The position is part-time and located in Boston, MA.
