An educational institution is seeking a qualified professional to provide Adaptive Physical Education services within a K-12 setting. This role focuses on developing and implementing physical education programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
Qualifications:
- Valid Ohio Special Education Teachers Certificate for Adaptive Physical Education
- Strong background in physical education and adaptive sports
- Experience with writing and monitoring IEPs
- Ability to collaborate effectively with special education and general education staff
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of motor development and coordination strategies
Responsibilities:
- Identify students requiring Adaptive Physical Education services
- Evaluate students' motor and physical development as part of an evaluation team
- Develop and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for qualifying students
- Attend and participate in IEP meetings
- Collaborate with special education and physical education teachers to design suitable programs
- Provide instruction tailored to individual student needs
- Work with students on motor skills, coordination, and social-psychological development
- Adapt existing physical education programs for students in need of modification
- Offer in-service training to school personnel and community members as necessary
- Maintain ongoing communication with educators and administrative staff
