Summary Under direct supervision, is responsible for developing the knowledge and skills associated with entry level positions in the human services field.

- Provide entry level case management services to inmates within the scope of authority.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all inmate matters.
- Research and update resource list to provide to inmates being discharged from the facility.
- Assist mental health counselors with data entry and documentation.
- Assists inmates in completing necessary paperwork.
- Explains nature of Sheriff's Department programs, procedures, and services to inmates.
- Adheres to the standards of the Privacy Act of 1974, {U.S.C. § 552A} as amended; maintains and enforces all aspects of confidentiality of inmates' information.
- Participate in trainings offered by mental health and deputies as assigned.
- Perform various office duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required
Knowledge and Skills: - Knowledge of County policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of the principles of file systems, case files, and records management
- Knowledge of local community resources and various community services programs.
- Skill in staying calm while working with people in crisis.
- Skill in effectively communicating verbally and in writing.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with public officials, outside agencies, County staff and the general public while dealing with sensitive information.
- Skill in operating a personal computer and utilizing a variety of software applications.
Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; AND be enrolled in an associate or bachelor's program in psychology, counseling, criminal justice, social work or closely related field. Must pass a thorough background investigation.
