Position Overview: Counselor
As a Counselor, you will play a vital role in assessing, evaluating, and coordinating mental health care for incarcerated individuals. You will work to create individualized release plans that ensure a seamless continuum of care, promoting the well-being of our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Crisis Intervention: Assess psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention for emotionally distressed and mentally ill inmates.
Suicide Prevention: Conduct thorough evaluations of inmates to implement effective suicide intervention and prevention strategies.
Care Coordination: Collaborate with facility and medical staff to address the unique needs of inmates and ensure comprehensive care.
Substance Abuse Counseling: Provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and substance abuse counseling to support inmates in their recovery journey.
Individualized Treatment Plans: Develop tailored treatment plans for psychiatric inmates requiring intensive behavior management and complete referrals to providers for medication management services.
Community Linkages: Foster connections with community mental health agencies, support services, and families to coordinate care and facilitate discharge planning for inmates. Collaborate with community health providers for enrolled clients.
Release Planning: Complete needs assessments and design individualized release plans for inmates experiencing mental illness, connecting them with appropriate community services.
Safety and Security: Maintain the safety and security of both staff and inmates while making clinical decisions.
On-call Responsibilities: Participate in on-call duties to provide off-hours mental health professional coverage as needed.
Training: Offer mental health training to jail staff to enhance their understanding and support of inmate care.
Additional Duties: Fulfill other job responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
A Master's degree in social work, clinical psychology, psychiatric nursing, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge and abilities.
Current licensure as a Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, Mental Health Counselor, or Licensed Professional Counselor is required.

Pay: $35.00 per hour
License/Certification: Master's degree with licensure as an LPC, LCSW, LADC, or LMFT (required)
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Jacksboro, TN
