The Spot quadruped robot performs inspections on thousands of sites around the world. This data feeds into the Orbit intelligent automation platform, coordinating robot fleets on hundreds of sites today. In This Role You Will Have The Opportunity To Design, build, and improve Orbit’s machine learning systems for inspection, operation, and optimization of industrial facilities using Spot. Research, prototype, and deploy models leveraging multimodal data from robotic sensors to extract site information such as anomalies and object classification. Establish methods to evaluate inspection model performance. Curate datasets for model training, fine-tuning, and evaluation. Identify and employ strategies to improve model performance, including fine-tuning, model selection, and prompt engineering. You will be part of the Asset Owners applications team within the Spot organization, working alongside full-stack engineers, product management, and design teams. You will receive support from ML platform engineers and collaborate with researchers across Boston Dynamics. Boston Dynamics is a group of passionate engineers advancing robotics technology. To succeed in this role, you should have: MS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or related field. Experience training, fine-tuning, and applying state-of-the-art generative AI models, preferably in computer vision tasks. Proficiency in Python and experience with common ML tools, architectures, and workflows. The ability to stay current with the latest research and identify opportunities for product application. A willingness to tackle challenging computer vision problems, develop creative solutions, and communicate findings clearly.
