Library Assistant I Macon County Public Library Starting Salary: $10.37 - $10.89 per hour Employment Type: Full-time Are you looking for a full-time job helping children and families? If so, you might be the right person for our Library Assistant position. This role is in the Macon County Public Library Youth Services Department. Your duties will include answering informational questions, helping locate materials, assisting with library events and activities, and shelving returned items. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, one year of customer service experience, and preferably library experience. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong technology skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of current reading trends. Preference will be given to candidates with previous library experience and flexible availability. Responsibilities involve assisting patrons and staff, creating and presenting programs, providing readers’ advisory, and performing related tasks. The work involves frequent public contact, following Fontana Regional Library policies, and is performed under the supervision of the Department Supervisor. This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, with evening and weekend shifts required. The starting salary is $10.37 per hour, with benefits including paid leave, health insurance, and retirement. The position begins on June 9, 2025.
