Program hours of operation: 9:30am to 6:00pm
Locations: Los Angeles, Rosemead, Monterey Park, San Gabriel, Burbank, San Fernando Valley
Program Information:
Woodcraft Rangers programs provide students with Expanded Learning Programs, Summer Day Camp, and Sleep Away Camp experiences that includes exciting club activities from our curriculum library mixed in with camp traditions that have been around for more than 100 years!
Position Information:
The Inclusion Specialists at Woodcraft Rangers are responsible for ensuring the inclusion and support of students with developmental and intellectual disabilities in expanded learning programs, Family Camp, and Camp Woodcraft. This role focuses on creating an inclusive environment where all participants can fully engage and thrive. The inclusion specialists collaborate with staff, families, and external stakeholders to provide accommodations, modifications, and support to meet individual student needs.
Overall Responsibilities:
· Collaborate with club leaders, Site Coordinators, Camp Counselors, and Camp Coordinators to develop and implement inclusive instructional strategies and accommodations.
· Ensure programs are structured in a way that supports a safe environment (physical and emotional). Promotes an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity for all program participants, staff, and families.
Collaborate with Site Coordinators and staff to develop inclusive program policies, procedures, and practices.
· Conduct needs assessments to identify barriers and challenges faced by students with diverse needs.
· Develop strategies and plans to address identified needs and promote the inclusion of all participants.
· Provide professional development workshops and training sessions to enhance the understanding and implementation of inclusive practices for woodcraft staff.
· Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify individual student needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.
· Collaborate with teachers and parents to create Student Success Plans and implement effective strategies to support students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.
· Foster positive relationships with parents, guardians, and community organizations to promote collaboration and support for students with diverse needs.
· Help with data gathering and assessment for behavior support services to track and report advancement towards specific targets.
· Schedule office hours/ visits in accordance with supervisor request.
· Highlight models of high-quality programming and best practices among the team to elevate programs across the region and agency.
· Provide Director of Inclusion with updates and recommendations based on site visits, office hours meetings, and interactions with program staff.
· Complies with all applicable safety requirements and emergency protocols, including, up to date on all trainings and required certifications.
· Participate in staff development training as required, approximately 30 hours spread out over multiple weekends/intersessional days throughout the spring.
· Provide Inclusion support during local Spring Excursions, as well as our Integrated/ Inclusive Summer Day Camp Programs.
· Provide Inclusion support at Camp Woodcraft: Kids Sleepaway Camp, and Family Camp which both take place in Mountain Center CA every summer.
· Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
· 1 year of experience working in an inclusive environment
· Knowledge of inclusive education principles, disabilities laws, and best practices.
· Familiarity with different disabilities, learning differences, and strategies to address individual student needs.
· High School Diploma or equivalent required, College course work in Child Development, Psychology, or other related subject preferred.
· FBI & DOJ Livescan clearance
· TB Test clearance
· First Aid & CPR certification (provided by WR)
· Ability to travel to multiple sites.
· 6 months experience supervising or leading a team and/or a group of children in a school or recreational setting OR 6 units in child development.
· Ability to use smart phone for work related business (WR provides Wi-Fi/cell stipend)
· Woodcraft Rangers will require proof of vaccination for ALL employees providing any in-person work with staff or clients.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and move around a large facility/space. The employee is required to speak, hear, and reach with hands and arms.
