Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable international, national, state, and local food regulations (FDA, local health departments, Preventive Controls, etc.).
- Maintain compliance with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards, including BRC or SQF certifications.
- Oversee documentation control and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS), including procedures, records, GMPs, and the Food Safety Plan.
- Partner with operations to ensure the safety, legality, and regulatory compliance of all bakery products.
- Collaborate with maintenance, sanitation, warehouse, and operations teams to drive bakery performance improvements.
- Understand and manage Critical to Quality Control Points (CTQCP) to deliver "right the first time" quality.
- Implement and enforce customer-specific requirements.
- Support efforts to reduce customer/consumer complaints through root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the FSQA Technicians, including hiring, coaching, training, and performance evaluation.
- Develop and maintain a talent training and skills matrix in partnership with the FSQA Manager.
- Serve as backup for the FSQA Manager during regulatory, customer, and third-party audits.
- Monitor raw material supplier performance and ensure material compliance with specifications.
- Investigate product or process failures thoroughly, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions quickly.
- Identify and implement technology and innovations to improve department effectiveness.
- Lead and contribute to a strong food safety culture through communication, education, events, and recognition programs.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment and proactively report unsafe conditions.
- Other duties as assigned by the FSQA Manager.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree (preferred) or equivalent experience in the food industry.
- 3+ years of food industry manufacturing or quality experience, including supervisory experience.
- 3-5 years of comprehensive food processing, food safety, and quality experience preferred (experience with HARPC, USDA, or FDA regulations).
- Experience with GFSI schemes such as BRC, SQF, or USDA audits is desirable.
- HACCP training preferred.
- PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) certification preferred.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and writing skills.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong computer proficiency.
