About the Role
The Company is in search of an Executive Director (ED) to lead its mission of advancing ecological science and supporting the professional community of ecologists. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and visionary leader, responsible for promoting the organization's goals, fostering communication among ecologists, and enhancing public understanding of ecology. The ED will also be tasked with ensuring the sound use of ecological knowledge in environmental decision-making, particularly in critical areas such as climate change, biodiversity loss, ecosystem management, and sustainability. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the ecological science landscape and the ability to engage with a diverse membership of professional ecologists. The successful candidate will work closely with the organization's staff and peer review team, and will be instrumental in maintaining the company's position as a trusted voice in the field. A strong background in nonprofit management, fundraising, and advocacy is essential, as is the ability to represent the organization effectively to a wide range of stakeholders. The ED will be the driving force behind the company's initiatives, ensuring that its mission is carried out with integrity and in alignment with the values of the ecological science community.
