As an Environmental Compliance Specialist, you’ll be a strategic partner to operations, guiding environmental programs that protect air, water, and land while driving continuous improvement. You’ll lead initiatives that ensure regulatory alignment, empower employees through training, and shape a culture of environmental excellence across our manufacturing footprint.
Provide expert guidance on local, state, and federal environmental regulations
Develop and implement management systems to ensure compliance across assigned programs
Lead permitting processes and create site-specific environmental protection plans
Deliver engaging training to build awareness and ownership of environmental responsibilities
Monitor and analyze performance metrics related to air, water, land, waste, and wetlands
Conduct assessments and audits to identify risks and improvement opportunities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed environmental priorities into operations
Represent Charter Steel in interactions with regulatory agencies
Support facility management plans and coordinate the Radiation Safety Program
Champion continuous improvement through data-driven action plans and team leadership
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Science, Engineering, or related field
3+ years of environmental experience in a manufacturing setting
Strong problem-solving skills and initiative
Detail-oriented multitasker with excellent organizational abilities
Effective communicator with strong presentation and training skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and basic web tools
Solid understanding of EPA and state environmental standards
Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in steel or heavy manufacturing environments
Familiarity with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
Exposure to Six Sigma or Lean methodologies
Experience working with regulatory agencies
