Job Title: Director of Quality [Food Manufacturing, Dry Goods]

Location: Buena Park, CA

Salary: $140-175k per year, (On-site)

Travel: 10-15%

Job Summary:

Our client, a leading food manufacturing company located in the Buena Park Area, is seeking an experienced Director of Quality to oversee and enhance their quality assurance, sanitation, and regulatory team. This pivotal role involves developing and executing strategic quality initiatives, policies, and procedures, as well as leading a dedicated team to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, including FDA, USDA Organic, Kosher, Halal, and SQF certifications. The Director of Quality will work closely with cross-functional teams to uphold quality standards throughout the product lifecycle, leveraging data analytics for decision-making and process optimization, while addressing customer complaints and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage quality assurance, sanitation, and regulatory activities.
  • Develop and execute strategic quality initiatives, policies, and procedures.
  • Build, lead and mentor the quality assurance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Conduct thorough audits and inspections to identify and rectify areas requiring enhancement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality standards are upheld throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Leverage data analytics to inform decision-making and optimize processes.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints, developing strategies to enhance satisfaction.
  • Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manage necessary documentation for approvals and audits, including FDA, USDA Organic, and SQF certifications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years in quality assurance/quality control within the food & beverage manufacturing industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, regulatory requirements, SQF, and USDA Organic, Kosher, Halal certification.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
