About the Role
The Company is in search of a Deputy General Counsel with a strong background in civil rights and a focus on social justice. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the organization's litigation docket, identifying and developing new cases, and maintaining an active presence in the legal arena. This role also involves managing a legal department, providing leadership and supervision to legal professionals, and serving as a public spokesperson to raise the organization's profile. Collaboration with allied civil rights organizations and other departments within the organization is essential, as is the ability to contribute to the Senior Leadership Team in advancing the company's mission. Applicants must have a J.D. degree, be admitted to the relevant state Bar(s), and have a minimum of 15 years' of experience in federal and state litigation, including complex and class action cases. A proven commitment to civil rights, strong communication skills, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to manage relationships effectively are all required. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and have a proven ability to solve problems and make decisions under pressure. Experience in supervising and managing legal professionals, as well as fluency in Spanish, is highly preferred.
