Ann’s Heart Women’s Shelter is a 501c3 organization with our foundations in the Eugene/Springfield Area.

Our goals are to provide a safe space for women of all types to heal from the trauma of homelessness, and find their way to stability in permanent housing.

We operate a 6 bed shelter-house in the beautiful Creswell area, where we seek to help our guests to overcome barriers to permanent housing.

We are hiring for several positions within the house and look forward to growing our staff with individuals who have a deep passion for this type of work.

The right applicants will have the following skills and experience:

Skills -

Capacity to stay flexible under stress and maintain composure
Ability to stay calm when handling crisis or unsafe behaviors and understanding of de-escalation techniques.
Maintain a warm presence within home, while maintaining safety and adhering to program guidelines.
An understanding of the basics of providing trauma informed care.
Nonjudgmental approach to a wide range of individuals and lifestyles.
Understanding of safety and housing planning.
Understanding of importance and methods of maintaining confidentiality.
Possess a level of comfort and ability around basic technology (email, database, text, chat, etc.) as well as future systems as needed.
Previous work experience in case management within a direct service or social service setting.
An understanding of how trauma, systemic oppression, race, ethnicity, gender and sexuality impact people experiencing homelessness and poverty.
Active listening skills and ability to acquire information in healthy ways and help problem solve sensitive issues.
Knowledge of the local social services system or system navigation, or willingness to build this knowledge.
Skills to create and maintain healthy professional boundaries.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Assure the premises are clean and orderly.
Experience managing a home, including working with vendors who are providing services to the home, maintaining par stock of supplies needed in the home, and planning for needed changes and maintenance.
Experience with unhoused individuals, individuals whose mental health symptoms cause difficulty in maintaining housing or employment.

Candidates who are well qualified will have as many of the above skills as possible.

Additionally, staff will be hired for specific roles within the shelter with the expectation for some cross training possibilities to occur.

Case Manager-

This candidate will have at least 2-3 years providing case management in direct service or a social work setting. They will have an ability to develop rapport with a client, while maintaining professional boundaries. They will understand how to develop housing and safety plans, and will have at least a basic knowledge of local services available. They will have ability to perform needed operations within HMIS, and will also be experienced in the documentation needed to provide quality case management services. They should have training and practiced skills with de-escalation in crisis situations or when dealing with behavioral concerns.

They should have understanding of how to provide for a safe and secure living situation. This candidate needs to be able to work full time or very nearly full time.

House Manager -

These candidates will be able to manage the safety and security of the home. They will have an ability to develop rapport with a client, while maintaining professional boundaries. They will understand how to support housing and safety plans, and coach clients on the steps needed in those plans.

They need to have a basic understanding of documentation for the provision of services. They should have training and practiced skills with de-escalation in crisis situations or when dealing with behavioral concerns.

Additionally, consideration given to individuals who have some experience in the management or running of a living space for diverse individuals. This would include foster homes, homes which support individuals with developmental disabilities or mental health diagnoses, etc.

There are several positions here, which may be between part and full time.

Overnight Manager -

These candidates will be interested in living on-site, with room and board in exchange for nighttime on-call hours, and additional hourly pay when needing to respond to a nighttime incident, or if they are interested in picking up additional work during non on-call hours.

These candidates will be able to manage the safety and security of the home. They will have an ability to develop rapport with a client, while maintaining professional boundaries.

They need to have a basic understanding of documentation for the provision of services. They should have training and practiced skills with de-escalation in crisis situations or when dealing with behavioral concerns.

This is for one position.

Benefits
Ann’s Heart Women’s Shelter offers competitive wages, starting at $17-$24.00/hr (depending on position and experience) and a planned review and increase at 6mo, another at 1 year, with yearly review thereafter.

For employees working more than 32 hours, we provide a significant reimbursement for privately obtained health insurance, or an alternately obtained group policy, with a goal of minimizing or eliminating their cost.
