Job Description
A Cable Installer will work closely with the Project Lead to install and implement structured cabling solutions.
Roles and Responsibilities/ Essential Functions:
- Pulling and installing new Cat 5E/ Cat 6 cable.
- Climbing up and down ladders/ lifts at varies heights.
- Installing cable pathways and raceways.
- Be able to use basic hand tools and power tools.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Install proper cable sleeves and chases.
- Take direction from Project Lead.
- Learn basics between different types of cabling.
- Terminate Cat 5E/ Cat 6 cable properly.
Requirements
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- Able to follow both complex and simple instructions
- Possess analytical and mathematical skills as related to reading diagrams and blueprints then applying written instructions to produce good clean installations.
- Excellent written skills
- Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to assemble and disassemble small communication components with little or no difficulty
- Must be able to differentiate colors for termination
- Must deal with repetitious lifting of weight of 50lb or more
- Must not have fear of heights
- Must be able to operate power tools on ladders
- Must be able to work in confined spaces
Working Conditions
This position requires working in outdoor and indoor conditions, as well as overnight out of town jobs that can range from a one day to a week.
