???? Schedule: Full-Time | 5/6 Day Work Week (Weekend Availability Required)
???? Compensation: $175,000 - 200,000+ annually (Inclusive of Base + Bonuses + Commission)

Position Summary

The General Sales Manager is responsible for driving profitability and customer retention in both the new- and used-vehicle departments. This role requires effective leadership, in-depth market knowledge, performance-based management, and strong inventory control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate new and used vehicle department managers.

  • Lead forecasting for annual and monthly sales, gross profit, and expenses.

  • Set clear objectives for sales teams and ensure consistent performance.

  • Manage inventory supply and acquisition strategies for new and used vehicles.

  • Oversee merchandising, display standards, and disposal of aged inventory.

  • Review appraisals, reconditioning processes, and demonstrator policies.

  • Analyze market trends and recommend sales promotions, advertising, and compensation plans.

  • Personally review all deals and ensure compliance with dealership standards.

  • Oversee daily operations, including reviewing sales logs, trickle downs, appraisals, and missed opportunities.

  • Drive outbound call accountability through Car Wars and BDC follow-up.

  • Manage lease retention, retail equity opportunities, and orphaned customer assignments.

  • Monitor unsold surveys, sales team engagement, and customer satisfaction initiatives.

  • Ensure adherence to reception, greeting, and delivery confirmation processes.

  • Lead weekly sales meetings and implement continuous training.

Required Experience & Skills
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a General Sales Manager or similar leadership role in an automotive dealership.

  • Proficient in VinSolutions – a must.

  • Proven track record in desking deals, appraisals, coaching teams, and achieving sales targets.

  • Deep understanding of local market conditions and effective inventory management.

  • Experience in both new and used vehicle operations.

  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
