Job Title: Assistant Litigation Attorney

Location: New York, New York
Job Type: Contract

Compensation:
• $52.00/hour for 1-3 years of experience
• $56.00/hour for 3-7 years of experience
• $58.00/hour for 7+ years of experience

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Litigation Attorney to support our division attorneys in defending the City and its officials in federal civil rights cases involving allegations of police, district attorney, or correction officer misconduct . The ideal candidate will play a key role in discovery, settlement, and motion practice , ensuring thorough legal representation in complex litigation matters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in discovery processes, including reviewing paper and electronic documents.
• Prepare settlement memoranda and assist in settlement negotiations.
• Conduct legal research and writing to support motion practice and case strategy.
• Review and analyze deposition transcripts , summarizing key findings.
• Defend depositions and conduct interviews with law enforcement officers.
• Assist in drafting motions, pleadings, and other legal documents as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the bar in New York (Admission in federal court preferred).
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills .
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple assignments.
• Experience with civil litigation, government defense, or civil rights cases is a plus.
